Light Up Menston

In 2020 the group decided to arrange “Doorstep Carols” in place of 2019’s crowded event marking the lights switch on;  12 additional trees were lit up and there were 3 new lamp post displays and a bigger tree at Kirklands. Fund raising by this group in 2020 increased the funds available to make further improvements for 2021. 

Menston Christmas Lights 2021 – took place on December 4^th at 5pm at Kirklands.

The 2021 event was mainly outdoors at Kirklands so that everyone could stay safe with the continuing concerns about Covid. The plan was that FOMPS arranged events for children in the afternoon, culminating in the Switching on of the lights at 5pm. Following that there were plans for Mulled Wine, food and music all being well for the remaining adults.

For future events, Menston’s elves aren’t getting any younger and so could do with a hand from a few younger volunteers who are, for instance,  prepared to climb ladders to decorate trees with lights, or help erect and man barriers for the switch on event.
