Menston Walks
In 1997 the Menston Millennium Steering Group was formed through the initiative of the Menston Community Association. Their task was to create a permanent memorial and a way of celebrating the millennium in Menston. The result was a book titled Menston Millennium Walks.
The walks were provided by Menstonians, discussed, tested and clarified. Illustrations and maps were then produced by the Menston Art Club. The first draft book was ready for publication in July 1999.
We hope by publishing these walks on the village website that it will encourage walkers to
go out see the heritage, gardens, flora and fauna on our doorstep. To see each walk simple click on the relevant walk below.

Walk 1
Guiseley Moor to Otley Golf Course.
This walk is approximately 6 miles and hiking boots and wellies are recommended.
Walk 2
Yorkgate to Gill Brow.
This walk is approximately 3.5 miles.
Walk 3
Buckle Lane to Brooklands Park.
This walk is approximately 2 miles long.
Walk 4
High Royds to Hawksworth Moor.
This walk is approximately 6 miles long and hiking boots or wellies are recommended.
Walk 5
Bleach Mill Lane – Menston Old Lane.
This walk is approximately 2.5 miles long and hiking boots or wellies are recommended.
Walk 6
Hag Farm to Burley Woodhead.
This walk is approximately 4 miles long.
Walk 7
Bleach Mill – Shooting Range.
This walk is approximately 3.75 miles long.
Walk 8
Menston Village.
This walk is approximately 0.5 miles long.
Menston Parish Boundary Walk
This walk is approximately 9.5 miles long and covers the boundary of Menston Parish.

Menston Tree Trail
The circular route begins at Kirkland’s Community Centre and Library on Main Street, the walk is on paths along streets, quiet tracks, and paths through the green spaces of Menston, returning to the start. The walk will take about one and a half hours and is 1.5 miles/3km long. Please respect property and privacy and take care when walking along and crossing roads. We hope you will enjoy looking at Menston’s varied and delightful treescape.
